2.1 French Toast
Ingredients
- Two slices of bread
- One egg
- A couple of tablespoons of milk
- Sugar to taste
- A drop of vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dressing (optional)
Steps
- Whisk the egg with milk and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add a drop of vanilla extract and mix it well.
- Pour the mix into a vast and shallow bowl or plate.
- Soak the bread slice on both sides.
- Shallow fry the soaked bread in butter or oil.
2.2 Vegetable Namkeen (salted) Jave (Vermicelli Upma)
Ingredients
- Roasted vermicelli (1 cup)
- Water (2 cups; twice as much as vermicelli)
- Finely chopped onions and tomato
- Finely chopped vegetables (carrots and/or peas and/or corn)
- Cashews
- Oil, cumin seeds, curry leaves, salt, and green chillies
Steps
- Heat oil in a deep pan
- Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies
- Caramelize some onions
- Add vegetables and sauté them at medium heat
- Add tomatoes and cashews
- Once the vegetables are cooked and tender, add vermicelli with twice as much water as vermicelli.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until vermicelli is cooked.
